Greyson's Birth...

We were scheduled a c-section for the morning of November 6th, so on November 5th is when our journey began. Because of potential health risks for Greyson we needed to have him in Spokane instead of here in Moscow.  Which now looking back I see as one of the biggest blessings in my life.

November 5th
Left Moscow around noon to meet Patrecia in Kalotus for her to take the girls for us. We arrived in Spokane at about dinner time so we got a bite to eat and checked into the hotel for the night.  We went the night before hoping to relieve some stress and get a good nights rest before the c-section the next morning.  The plan starting going down the tube though because we had to listen to our neighbors dog barking nonstop until about 9:00 when we couldn't handle it any longer and Darren finally complained to the front desk.  Apparently the owner was out of the room and we were grateful that when they returned the barking subsided and we were able to get some sleep. I started my fast for the next morning about then as well.

Novemeber 6th
We got to the hospital at about 7:00am to get ready for the c-section. Two weeks before at my pre-op appointment Greysons head was not in position but the dr said that if his head was down when I came in for the c-section they would induce me instead.  This was our first HUGE blessing of the day, his head was down!! We couldnt stop smiling we were so happy. All my nurses were just as excited as we were they took pictures and everything. So about an our I was laying in a labor delivery room hooked up to some pitocin overlooking an amazing view of downtown Spokane.  We turned on the election and hunkered down for a long day of waiting. Blessing number two came when I met my nurse who was with me for the rest of the delivery.  She was incredible. She was hilarious and kept me laughing for the rest of the day.  I LOVED her.  About noon the epidural guys came and got me hooked up to that and then around 1:00pm they broke my water.  So funny to hear them talk about how much fluid I had.  (I was going in twice a week for non-stress test for about 6 weeks before because my abnormal amount of fluids) Another 4 or 5 hours passed and my nurse came in to check me I was at about a 9 so she propped me up to let gravity help get things to progress just a bit quicker.  By this time I was STARVING, i had only had water all day and since the night before's fast.  So my nurse gave me some broth and it gave me just enough energy to make it through.  Around 6:30 I started pushing and by 7pm we had our sweet "big" Greyson (9lbs 4oz).  We were exhausted and starving. The NICU was there to take Greyson but after some tests decided he didn't need to be up there so we got to keep him with us (blessing number 3)

This was such a great experience for us as we know the Lord wanted it this way.  If there werent ant health concerns that brought us up to Spokane I would have had Greyson via c-section in Moscow and I would have never met my nurse Pam.

We left the hospital 3 days later with a healthy little boy to hold and love.....
Greyson the day we left the hospital.
